There's a group chat for all the parents in my son's 4th-grade class. It's mostly harmless—people asking about homework, what day the field trip form is due, etc. But the class parent-rep just posted a long message about chat etiquette, including a new rule for 'quiet hours' from 9pm to 8am. Her reasoning is that the notifications are disruptive to family time. A few people replied that you can just mute the chat, but she said that defeats the purpose of being available for urgent school matters. I feel like 'my kid forgot the science project instructions' IS the urgent school matter at 9:30 on a Tuesday.
