My roommate fed my two-day meal prep to his drunk friends.
By @danaee · Food
We have an agreement to share dinner leftovers, but he took that to mean he could wipe out my entire batch of slow-cooked meat to feed three uninvited guests at 2am. He threw $8 at me and thinks I'm overreacting over groceries.
The full story
so my roommate and i have had this informal system since august where whoever cooks dinner makes extra and leaves half in the fridge, and the other person can just heat it up when they get back from campus or their shift. it was working fine until this week. i spent two hours on tuesday making this massive batch of slow-cooked pulled pork. bought the pork shoulder myself, made the sauce from scratch, seasoned the whole thing, shredded it down, toasted buns, the whole deal. it was supposed to cover dinner for both of us that night plus at least two lunches for me. i eat one plate, pack up two containers for my lunch wednesday and thursday, and leave the remaining bowl on the top shelf for him. tell me why i wake up wednesday at 11am and the entire bowl is gone, PLUS one of my lunch containers. this dude had three buddies over after 1am playing games, decided my slow-cooked meat was free buffet material, and let them demolish literally everything including my prepped meal. when i called him out on it, he literally Venmoed me $8 and said 'bro you said we share leftovers, it's not that deep, you can just grab a burrito on campus.' eight dollars doesn't even cover the cut of meat, let alone the two hours i stood there shredding it, and sharing leftovers with your roommate definitely does not mean feeding half the dorm floor at 2 in the morning. he says since it was in the shared fridge space, once it's cooked it's fair game for whatever, and that i'm being insanely stingy over shredded pork. leaving it up to yall because he genuinely thinks he did nothing wrong.
