My parents think having a key to my apartment gives them 24/7 access.

I'm a 20yo college student in my first apartment and they just let themselves in whenever they want. I tried to ask them to text first and my mom took it like I'd slapped her.

so i finally moved into my own place this year, it's off campus with a roommate. my parents helped me with the security deposit and all that, which was super nice of them. when i moved in, they kept a spare key 'for emergencies' which i thought was fine. the problem is they live like 25 minutes away and they seem to define 'emergency' as 'we ran out of milk at home so we went to the store near you and wanted to say hi'. they just... show up. no text, no call, they just unlock the door and walk in. at first it was kinda whatever but it's getting so old. last week i had like three friends from class over, we were studying for a midterm and just kinda decompressing. the apartment was a little messy, we had snacks everywhere, and my dad just unlocks the door and walks right into the living room holding a bag of groceries i didn't ask for. everyone went dead silent. it was so incredibly awkward. he was like 'oh! didn't know you had company!' and i wanted to be like 'yeah, cus i'm a person who has a life??'. another time my roommate had her boyfriend over and they were in the kitchen, and my mom just walks in bc she was getting her car washed nearby and wanted to drop off my clean laundry. my roommate was mortified. it's her apartment too and now she feels like she has no privacy either. i finally got the courage to bring it up. i called my mom and was super gentle, i was like 'hey, i love seeing you guys, but would you mind just shooting me a text before you head over? just so i know you're coming.' she got SO offended. literally was like 'wow, so i need an appointment to see my own daughter now?' and told me how i was being ungrateful and that they just want to make sure i'm okay. my dad backed her up and said since they helped with the deposit they should be able to check on their 'investment'. i feel like a huge jerk but i also feel like i'm going crazy. i'm thinking about asking for the key back but i know that would start world war 3. what do i even do here.
