My neighbor is spying on my backyard with a drone and my wife thinks I'm overreacting.

By @karawelp · Family

This guy who just moved in next door keeps flying his drone right over our fence line, hovering over our yard while my kids are playing. I confronted him about it and he said it's legal airspace and to 'get over it'.

The full story

The guy is in his late 20s, no kids, and has this really expensive-looking drone. At first I thought whatever, it's a new toy. But it's become a near-daily thing. It'll just hang there, 30 feet up, right over my fence. My two young daughters like to play in the sprinkler in the backyard and now my wife is paranoid about letting them out there. I went over and talked to him, calmly at first. I just asked if he could keep it over his own property. He got immediately defensive, told me he can fly it wherever he wants as long as it's not landing on my property, and that I should 'invest in a roof' if I want privacy. I got heated and told him he was being a creep. My wife heard and is now mad at ME for 'starting a war with the neighbor'. She thinks I should have just ignored it and that now I've made things tense and awkward, but I feel like I have to draw a line somewhere. Staring into someone's private yard is not okay, drone or not. I'm honestly ready to just blast it out of the sky with a hose. Am I wrong for escalating this?
