My husband tried to veto our Disney vacation because of a fantasy football draft.

By @tatekk · Family

We've been saving and planning a trip to Disney World with our kids for over a year. He knew the dates. Now he's saying he can't go because our fantasy football league is doing their live, in-person draft that same weekend.

The full story

I am losing my mind. For literally a year and a half, we have been planning this big, probably-our-only-one-ever trip to Disney World with the kids (7 and 9). Flights booked, park reservations made, even got one of those impossible character dining spots. My husband has been part of all of it, saw the calendar invites, the whole thing. Now, a month out, he comes to me and says there's a "major conflict." The conflict? His fantasy football league decided to have their annual draft, in-person, the same weekend we're supposed to leave. He's the commissioner, so he feels like he HAS to be there. He suggested we either move the trip (not possible, everything is non-refundable and the kids will be devastated), or that I just go with the kids and he'll "catch the next one." There isn't going to be a 'next one'! This is THE one! I told him that was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, and he's acting like I'm the bad guy for not understanding the 'commitment' he made to his league. they said they've been doing it for 15 years and it's a tradition. I told him making memories with his actual children should probably be a bigger priority than a fake football draft. Now he's all sulking and quiet, and I'm honestly so angry I could scream. Am I overreacting here? Or is he being a giant child?
