My granddaughter says I'm a monster for not liking her boyfriend.
By @oscary · Was I Wrong
I've been married 50 years. I know what a good man looks like, and this boy isn't it. He has no ambition, mumbles when he talks, and has the weakest handshake I've ever felt.
The full story
I told my granddaughter (22) that her new boyfriend has 'a weak spirit' and she flew off the handle. We've always been close, so my honesty came as a shock to her, but in my day, you appreciated directness. He doesn't look me in the eye, and when I asked him what he does for a living, he said he's 'between things.' That's not a job. they says I'm being judgmental, I say I'm being observant.

What people are saying
@itsnatalie — I mean this in the nicest way possible, but maybe it's time to let her make her own mistakes.
@zaneish — Has she ever brought home someone you actually liked?
@whateverman — A weak spirit and a weak handshake? Oh he's cooked. Stick to your guns, grandma.
@willsorta — 50 years of marriage means you've earned the right to say it like you see it. She'll understand one day.
@benkk — Can't wait for the follow-up post when he's 'between things' on her couch.
