If the artist put the songs in a specific order, that's the only way to listen to it. You don't read the chapters of a book out of order, do you?

My girlfriend and I were driving and she put on the new Kendrick album but had her Spotify on shuffle. I asked her to turn it off and she said I was being ridiculous. The transitions, the narrative arc, the whole flow is ruined when you listen out of order. It's not just a collection of random songs, it's a piece of art. She thinks I'm a snob, but I think it's just basic respect for the artist's work. It's not a playlist, it's an album.
