For weeks, he’s been disappearing into the garage for hours after dinner and being super secretive about it. My mom and I were starting to get actually worried.

I’m not even kidding, we were running through all the worst-case scenarios. He'd just get this little smile and say "oh, just tinkering." Tonight, he finally called us out there for the "big reveal" and my heart was POUNDING. He pulls back a sheet and there are these two beautiful, custom-built Adirondack chairs, painted my mom's favorite color. He built them from scratch for their anniversary next week. I just about started crying.
