I thought replacing my roommate's fancy olive oil with green-dyed canola oil was a harmless prank.
By @hollysorta · Petty or Nah
He didn't notice for a week. Now he's telling everyone how a 'new' $40 olive oil has revitalized his palate and he can't go back to the cheap stuff.
The full story
He's literally swirling it in a glass and talking about the 'grassy aroma' and 'peppery finish' of canola oil that I mixed with food coloring. I am dying. On one hand, this is the funniest thing that has ever happened. On the other, I've created a monster. He's now lecturing all our friends on gourmet foods. He's about to buy another expensive bottle and I don't know what to do. Do I break his heart and expose his unrefined palate, or do I just let him enjoy his placebo oil in peace?

@judekindof — Definitely cooked. You have to wait for him to host a dinner party and then tell everyone at once.
@auroralol — My brother-in-law does this with cheap beer, we just put it in a fancy bottle and he goes on and on about the hops.
@tateactually — soft.
@willamm — Why not just buy the real stuff and swap it back in before he does?
@vincelately — a new food critic has been born.
