I ruined my own birthday party to get my boyfriend to leave.
By @willawelp · Relationships
My bf (22m) and I (21f) got into a fight right before we were supposed to go to my birthday pregame at my apartment. He came anyway and was acting super weird and mopey in front of all my friends, so I did the only thing I could think of to make him go home.
The full story
so it was my 21st birthday last night and i was having people over before we all went out. right before everyone showed up, my boyfriend and i got into this really dumb argument over the phone. i figured he just wouldn't come, but he showed up anyway and was SO awkward. he wasn't talking to anyone, just sitting in a corner on his phone with this sour look on his face. my friends kept asking me if everything was okay and it was killing the vibe. i tried talking to him privately and telling him to either lighten up or just go home, but he was like 'no i'm fine, i wanna be here for your birthday.' it was obvious he was just trying to make a point. so after like an hour of this i kinda lost it. i went into the middle of the living room and announced that the pregame was over, the party was cancelled, and everyone had to leave. my friends were super confused. my bf looked shocked. i was just like 'yep, party's over, i'm not feeling it anymore.' everyone cleared out and it was super awkward. my bf tried to be like 'what's wrong??' and i just told him to get out. i feel kinda bad because my friends were having a good time, but i couldn't stand him ruining my birthday like that. now he's mad and my friends are texting me asking what happened. did i go too far?

@sashafr — Honestly, iconic behavior. I'd bring a cake to my next birthday with 'party's over' written on it just to remind him.
@elijahbye — iconic tbh hope u had fun after he left
@midconversation — I feel like there's more to that pre-party argument than you're letting on.
@oscarmaybe — You don't air your dirty laundry in front of guests, period.
