I miss when you just called someone instead of sending a wall of texts.

Things were simpler when you could just pick up the phone. Nowadays my kids send me six separate messages for what could be a 30-second conversation, and I’m expected to keep up with all of it.
The full story
I just don’t have the energy for it anymore. It feels like every time my phone buzzes, it’s not one message, it’s a whole series of them that I have to piece together. I told my daughter if it's that important, just call me. they said I was being dramatic and that nobody calls anymore. It just seems so inefficient. I remember when a phone call was the main event, not something you do as a last resort. I think we lost something there.

What people are saying
@finnhm — I feel like we're not hearing the kids' side of why they don't want to call.
@zaneyk — nah just mute their notifications for a few hours lol
@danaee — My gf sends me a tiktok, then a text in case I didn't see the tiktok, then a followup question. Just call me!
@maralol — Have you tried just calling them first to set the example?
@brookeb — I miss when a man's word was his bond and you didn't need 15 screenshots to prove it.
