I have to hide my good snacks from my wife.
By @maefr · Family
If I buy something I actually like, she'll eat it all before I get any. It doesn't matter if she has her own snacks, she wants mine.
The full story
I'm not talking about regular groceries. I mean the good stuff. The expensive jerky, the weird chips from that one store, the fancy ice cream. I buy it for myself as a treat after a long week. But it never fails. I'll come home from work, ready to finally dig in, and the bag is empty or there's like, one sad chip left at the bottom. She knows it's mine. We have a whole pantry full of stuff she picked out. Crackers, cookies, whatever. But for some reason, the second something is specifically 'mine', it becomes a challenge for her to eat it all immediately. I've tried talking about it. She just laughs and says I should share. But it's not sharing if I don't get any. So now I have a system. I hide my snacks. In my toolbox in the garage. In the trunk of my car. Behind the old paint cans in the basement. It feels ridiculous. I'm a grown man creating a snack-hiding network in my own house. But it's the only way I ever get to eat the stuff I paid for.
