I declined my roommate's split request for takeout food I never agreed to buy.
By @pialol · Money
He ordered a $42 a rideshare meal late last night without asking me, put his leftover wings in the fridge, and requested $21 from me this morning. I told him he bought dinner for himself, not for the house.
The full story
I work construction and pay my half of our rent on time every single month. My roommate ordered $42 worth of wings on a rideshare last night, ate half of them, and left the greasy bag on our kitchen table before passing out. This morning he sends me an split-request on Cash App for $21 with a text saying 'put the rest in the fridge for you bro, we can just split it.' I didn't ask for wings. I didn't say yes to a dinner order. I had already cooked my own ground beef and rice. When I declined the payment request, he got irritated and said I was being difficult over twenty bucks. I told him if he buys food without clearing it first, that's entirely his bill, leftovers or not.
