Every time we do an even split, I end up subsidizing someone else's expensive drink order.

I only ordered fries and a soda, so when the group tried to split the diner bill evenly at $22 each, I just sent $12 for my exact total. Now my friend says I ruined the group vibe over ten bucks.

The full story

we had six people at this diner off campus and when the check came everyone agreed to just split it evenly to make it fast. it came out to like $22 each. except one girl ordered two specialty mocktails that were literally $11 each plus an appetizer she barely touched, while i literally just got an order of side fries and a diet coke because i already ate before coming out and had $15 left in my checking account. when i saw the total on the card reader i just quietly Venmoed the person putting their card down $12 to cover my exact food, tax, and a $3 tip. now my friend who organized it is blowing up my phone saying i embarrassed her in front of the table by doing math and making it awkward, and that when a group agrees to split, you just take the hit and roll with it. like i get splitting when everyone gets an entree, but why should i pay $22 for $8 worth of food just so someone else can drink $22 worth of fancy juice for free? she said it ruins the vibe when people get stingy over ten bucks, but ten bucks is literally two meals for me right now.
