Every time someone orders steak they suddenly want to split the check evenly.
By @ellieforsure · Money
A guy in our friend group ran up a hefty bill on cocktails and steak, then claimed splitting evenly was faster for the waiter. I only paid for my flatbread and now the group is calling me cheap for doing the math.
The full story
We went to an Italian place for my friend's birthday and our group chat explicitly agreed on separate checks. When the bill landed, one guy ordered two specialty cocktails and a steak, noticed the server brought a single itemized receipt, and instantly announced we should just split it evenly to make it easier on the waiter. I only had a margherita flatbread and tap water. I immediately sent him an exact Venmo for my food plus tax and tip, and now he is in the chat making jokes about how calculating the math over twelve bucks ruined the dinner vibe.
