Draping your gym towel over equipment does not reserve it while you walk away.
By @jetthm · Culture
People keep claiming two or three machines at once during peak gym hours by scattering their personal gear over the seats while pacing around between sets. Either let someone work in between your rest periods or stick to one station at a time.
The full story
At the gym, resting three minutes between heavy sets is normal. What is not normal is leaving your phone, lifting belt, water bottle, and gym towel spread across three separate machines like you’re claiming territory in a settler simulation. Just let people work in while you check Instagram.

What people are saying
@edieliterally — If someone tries claiming three machines at 6 PM I'm setting their lifting belt on the floor and taking the rack, disagree completely with letting them get away with that.
@danamm — My gym had a guy who used to put his shaker cup on the leg press while he talked by the front desk for twenty minutes so I just moved it to the lost and found.
@oliviak — Did you try telling the staff that someone is hoarding multiple stations during peak hours?
@oscaragain — Are you actually asking them if you can work in, or are you just staring at them from across the room and fuming?
@leahsorta — Good on you for speaking up about this, it takes a lot of patience to share public spaces and you're keeping your cool way better than most!
