Calling your mother by her first name isn't funny.

I keep seeing this trend of kids calling their parents by their first names to get a reaction, and it just rubs me the wrong way. Back in my day, that was the ultimate sign of disrespect, something you'd get your mouth washed out with soap for.
The full story
I just don't get it. It was a huge deal when I was growing up, a real line you didn't cross with your elders, especially your own mother. Now I see these videos all over the internet of kids doing it for laughs, and all the comments are about how hilarious the mom's reaction is. Is nothing sacred anymore? It feels like we're losing that basic thread of respect for the people who raised us, trading it all in for a few seconds of internet fame. It's not cute or funny to me, it's just sad.
