We're starting to charge a cancellation fee for backing out of lunch plans.

By @xenakk · Work

A few of us from work go out for lunch a couple times a week. The problem is, one guy always confirms he's coming, we pick a bigger place to fit everyone, and then he cancels 5 minutes before we leave.

The full story

It's not about the money, it's the principle. We make plans, maybe pick a place that's a longer walk because he wants to go there, and then he just flakes. Every time. It messes up the reservation or just makes it annoying. So a few of us decided if you confirm you're in and cancel less than 15 minutes before we walk out the door, you owe everyone else a buck. Not to be mean, just to make a point. He thinks we're being ridiculous and treating him like a kid. I think if he acted like a grownup and kept his word, it wouldn't be an issue.
