We're in a heated debate about whether we had better snacks than kids do today.

By @kiraforsure · Nostalgia

My friends and I are arguing about 90s/2000s snacks versus the snacks available now. I'm firmly on the side that our childhood snacks were superior, but they're saying we're just biased by nostalgia.

The full story

The conversation started because my friend's kid was eating some organic, sugar-free, artisanal fruit leather thing. I made a joke about how we had Dunkaroos, 3D Doritos, and those Squeezit drinks with the weird faces you had to twist off. Now it's a full-blown argument. They're trying to tell me that today's snacks are healthier and more diverse, which is probably true. But I maintain that nothing will ever top the pure, sugary, artificially-colored joy of a Fruit Roll-Up with the tongue tattoos. They think I'm just romanticizing the past. I think they've forgotten what real snacks taste like.
