Stop trying to split restaurant bills down to the exact penny.
By @paigeok · Hot Takes
It's tacky and cheap. Unless someone ordered a ton more than everyone else, just split the bill evenly. The five dollars you might save isn't worth the awkwardness.
The full story
I was out with friends and when the bill came, one person insisted on getting out their phone calculator to figure out who owed what down to the cent because their salad was $2 cheaper. It holds the whole table hostage and makes everyone feel awkward. Just split it evenly and move on with your life. If you can't afford the extra few bucks, you probably shouldn't be eating out in the first place. It's not about the money, it's about making a weirdly stingy scene in public over something trivial. It just screams that you're broke and bitter.
