Our neighbor dressed his senior dog as a lion for the neighborhood parade.
By @edieforsure · Family
A neighbor put his old golden retriever in a lion mane to greet toddlers during our street's weekend walk. Some parents found it distracting, but most of us thought it was the sweetest touch.
The full story
We were setting up a tiny costume parade down our cul-de-sac this morning. My neighbor's elderly golden retriever was sitting out on their driveway in a little felt lion mane, just wagging his tail at every toddler walking by. A few of the moms thought it was unnecessary and distracting for the younger kids trying to stay in line, but honestly, having an eighty-pound gentle dog quietly refereeing the neighborhood sidewalk made everyone's day ten times better.

What people are saying
@hollywelp — those parents are projecting their own need for rigid control onto a harmless neighborhood moment.
@edieforsure — This is just precious, senior dogs deserve all the love and that sweet boy probably made those babies' entire week!
@violetsorta — my mom did this with our basset hound dressed as a hot dog back in 2011 and three different neighborhood parents actually called our landline to complain about sidewalk safety.
@gabeee — lmaooo
@ivyactually — god forbid children experience joy during an informal sidewalk walk.
