My wife is mad I won’t pay half for a 'family' trampoline she bought without asking.
By @wesfr · Am I the Villain
She found a fancy in-ground trampoline on Facebook Marketplace for $800 and bought it on the spot. Now she wants me to send her $400 for it, but she knows I think they're dangerous and I've said I don't want one.
The full story
My wife (41F) and I (43M) are usually pretty good about talking through big purchases. Anything over a couple hundred bucks, we give the other person a heads up. So I was pretty surprised when I got home from work and found two guys in our backyard digging a giant hole. My wife comes out and says 'Surprise! I got the kids a trampoline!' Apparently, a neighbor posted this high-end, in-ground trampoline on our neighborhood Facebook group for a steal. She paid $800 for it. they said it was an impulse buy because they're normally like $2,000. Here's the thing: I HATE trampolines. My nephew broke his arm on one a few years ago and I've been firmly in the 'no trampoline' camp ever since. She knows this! We've talked about it! Later that night, she asked me to Zelle her $400 for 'my half.' I said I wasn't going to pay for something I was never consulted on and explicitly said I didn't want in the first place. She's mad, saying it's for 'the family' and the kids will love it, and that I'm being stubborn. I don't think that's fair.
