I think our D&D group needs to kick someone out.

By @marawelp · Am I the Villain

There's a player in our weekly Dungeons & Dragons game who consistently makes things not fun for everyone else. He's not a bad guy, but his play style is actively ruining the campaign for me and at least two other people.

The full story

We have this guy in our group, let's call him 'the rogue.' He plays his character as a completely chaotic, kleptomaniac loner who refuses to cooperate with the party. Every single session, he tries to steal from the rest of us, pickpockets important NPCs we're supposed to be helping, and generally derails the story the Dungeon Master has planned. We've all talked to him about it out-of-character multiple times. they said, 'Hey, it's a cooperative game, could you try to work with the team more?' He just says 'It's what my character would do.' Last session was the final straw. The DM set up this big, emotional scene where my character was supposed to get a magic sword from her dying mentor. The rogue decided 'his character' would try to snatch the sword before she died. It completely killed the mood and turned what should have been a cool character moment into a stupid argument. The DM was visibly frustrated. After the session, I messaged the DM and two other players and they all feel the same way. We're several months into this campaign and he's not changing. I want to tell him he's out of the group. The DM is hesitant because he doesn't like confrontation, but the game just isn't fun with him in it. I feel like I'm the villain for wanting to kick him out, but he's sucking the joy out of our hobby.
