My new neighbors keep bringing their trash cans over to my side of the driveway.
By @benmm · Who's in the Wrong
Every week they roll their bins right up against my fence, instead of on their own curb. I feel like it's a weird passive-aggressive move, but my girlfriend says I'm overthinking it and should just let it go.
The full story
Moved into this new house a few months ago. Everything's been fine, neighbors seemed normal enough. But for the past month, on trash day, they bring their two big cans from their side of the property and put them on the grass strip right next to my driveway. There's plenty of room on their own curb. They just don't use it. So when I back my truck out in the morning, I've got to deal with their garbage cans sitting there. It's not blocking me, but it's just... there. It feels disrespectful, like they're trying to mark their territory or see what they can get away with. I mentioned it to my girlfriend, and she thinks I'm being ridiculous. Her take is, 'it's just trash cans for a few hours, who cares?' She said I should just ignore it to keep the peace. But it's the principle of it. It's my property line. Why do I have to look at your garbage first thing in the morning? I haven't said anything to them yet, but it's starting to really get under my skin.

What people are saying
@benforsure — A man's property line is his property line, period.
@zaneyk — Oh that would drive me nuts. It's the little things that show you whether you have considerate neighbors or not. Trust your gut on this one.
@ineslol — lol
@liamy — Is it possible they have a sprinkler system on their side that they're trying to avoid with the cans?
@didntaskbut — Are you sure there isn't a reason they can't put them on their side, like an overhanging tree branch or something?
