My kids think 2000s stuff is 'vintage' and I feel ancient.

I was going through some old boxes and my kids (11 and 13) were fascinated. They're now obsessed with my old flip phone and want to have a '2000s themed' birthday, and it's making me feel incredibly old.

I was cleaning out the attic this weekend, trying to make some space, and stumbled on a bunch of old boxes from before we had kids. It was a total time capsule. I found my old Nokia phone (the brick, obviously), a bunch of burned CDs in a binder with my terrible handwriting all over them, and even my original iPod with the click wheel. I was having a good laugh, showing my husband, and the kids came over to see what was going on. They were absolutely mesmerized. My daughter, who's about to turn 13, picked up the Nokia like it was some ancient artifact. they asked how I texted on it without a screen keyboard. My son was trying to figure out the iPod, and couldn't understand why he couldn't just say a song title and have it play. I tried to explain the joy of making a perfect mixtape (or, you know, a burned CD for a road trip), how you had to really commit to the song order. They just stared at me blankly. Now, my daughter is fully committed to having a "vintage 2000s" birthday party. She wants everyone to wear low-rise jeans and chunky highlights. they asked if we can get a bunch of disposable cameras. On one hand, it's hilarious and kind of sweet. On the other hand, calling the decade I graduated high school and college "vintage" feels like a personal attack. I was telling my sister about it and she said I should just embrace it, but I can't help but feel like I'm suddenly a fossil. Am I just being sensitive about getting older?
