I'm still reeling. We used to have phone trees, you know? You'd call your sibling, they'd call the next, and you'd actually hear the sadness in a person's voice. My niece just blasted it out like a news alert. Her own son, my grand-nephew (25), saw the text while he was at work. No warning, just a message that his grandma was gone. He was devastated and had to process that alone. She thinks I'm the one being difficult for even questioning her methods, but it just feels so wrong, like we're losing our basic humanity.
