My girlfriend thinks I’m a bad person for how I use our Netflix profile.

By @gabemm · Red Flag

they says my habit of deleting things from the 'Continue Watching' is a red flag. I think it's just basic streaming etiquette.

The full story

My girlfriend and I have been living together for about a year and it's been mostly great, except for one thing that's somehow become a huge deal. It’s our shared Netflix account. Specifically, how I manage the 'Continue Watching' row. If I start a show and decide it's not for me after 10 minutes, I remove it. If she watches a movie and leaves it there with 2 minutes of credits left, I remove it. To me, this is just keeping the space tidy. It’s like wiping crumbs off the counter or putting a mug in the dishwasher. A clean 'Continue Watching' is a clean mind. She, however, thinks this is an act of aggression. they says it's 'sociopathic behavior' (her words, not mine, obviously an exaggeration... I hope) to 'erase' her viewing history. She brought up a time a few months ago when she was halfway through some documentary about bees, and I deleted it because I watched the first 5 minutes and thought it was boring. Apparently, she wanted to finish it and my 'executive decision' meant she forgot it existed until it was gone forever. Last night was the breaking point. She was watching some new reality dating show. She fell asleep on the couch, I came in to go to bed and saw she'd left it running. It was 2am, the episode was clearly over, so I did my usual cleanup. This morning she woke up and wanted to finish the episode and when she saw it was gone from the list, she got genuinely mad. they said it’s a control thing and a major red flag that I feel the need to 'curate' our shared media space without asking. I think it’s a major red flag that she leaves digital clutter everywhere. It's not that deep, but now she's giving me the silent treatment. So am I crazy or is a clean Netflix queue not too much to ask?
