My fiancé refuses to make his brother pay for getting our PC hardware banned.

By @gusish · Gaming

His brother installed unauthorized cheat software on our shared computer and permanently blacklisted our hardware from our favorite games. My fiancé thinks demanding financial compensation from family over gaming privileges is completely unreasonable.

The full story

My fiancé and I share an apartment and one high-end gaming PC that we split the cost on. Last month, he gave his younger brother our personal desktop login credentials so his brother could play a competitive tactical shooter using his account while staying at our place. Last night, an anti-cheat ban wave permanently flagged the hardware ID of our $1,800 graphics card because his brother was secretly running third-party aim assistance software. The machine is now blacklisted from the two main multiplayer games my fiancé and I play together every evening. When I told my fiancé his brother needs to pay to replace the banned hardware component, he said I was being way too harsh on family over a video game.
