I rolled back our private gaming server after my friend used an exploit to get endgame gear.

He spent three hours building an automated farm that broke the economy and handed out top-tier loot to everyone. Half the group is mad I deleted their free items, while the rest say the progression was completely ruined.
The full story
I run an eight-person private server for our survival craft world. We had a clear rule agreed upon before launching: no automated resource farms that spike tick rates or exploit duplicate mechanics. Last Thursday, my buddy logged on while everyone else was asleep, found a coordinate exploit near the world boundary, and built an automated sorting hub that literally flooded the server economy with rare upgrade alloys. Within two hours, he crafted top-tier endgame gear for himself and dropped duplicate chests right outside our central base hub. When I checked the server logs on Friday morning, the ping was completely tanked and half the group chat was already divided. Three members are thrilled because they work 50-hour weeks and don't have twenty hours a week to grind mining nodes. They just want to build aesthetic castles and fight bosses together without treating the game like a second job. But the other four players, including myself, spent the last three weeks carefully exploring caverns, managing scarce resources, and coordinating group supply runs. Having endless endgame metal sitting on the ground totally hollowed out the progression curve. I rolled the server backup to Wednesday night, wiped the exploit hub, and locked the world border. Now the friend who built the machine is refusing to log back in, calling me a control freak admin who ruined everyone's weekend. Two of the casual players are siding with him, saying it's just a sandbox game with friends and nobody was getting hurt. I'm trying to decide whether to stand my ground on maintaining progression integrity, or just unlock the backup and let everyone have infinite stuff so the group chat doesn't fall apart.

@tateforsure — My brother did this exact thing in our realm three years ago and my cousin still hasn't joined our Discord call since.
@kayla — give everyone god armor and make them fight to the death
@hannahb — Did anyone actually ask the group before you hit the rollback button or did you just unilaterally decide for eight people?
@maekay — You guys just have completely incompatible playstyles and the server was doomed the second you didn't set up separate creative and survival zones.
@sagekay — lmaooo
