someone actually backed out of our group lunch today (they had a last-minute meeting) and they got a venmo request for $15 from the person who organized it.

is this happening in other offices?? our team always goes out for lunch on fridays. someone got annoyed that people sometimes RSVP yes and then bail last-minute, leaving the reservation numbers off. so they made a joke about a 'cancellation fee'. everyone laughed but then last week they made it a real pact. if you cancel within 24 hours of the lunch, you owe the organizer $15. i thought it was an over-the-top joke but someone just got hit with it for real and now it's super awkward.
