My co-op partner hoarded top-tier loot for a character he hasn't even made yet.
By @ashhm · Gaming
We ran a two-hour dungeon where a rare rifle dropped that completed my current build, but my buddy grabbed it to stash in his bank for a hypothetical alternate build. I logged off the voice call and refused to run the next raid with him.
The full story
My buddy works the day shift at a metal fab shop while I do residential drywall. We’ve been running cooperative shooters together on Tuesday nights for five years straight. The unspoken rule has always been simple: whoever gets the kill or opens the crate grabs the weapon drop first. Last night we ran an end-game dungeon for two solid hours. The final boss dropped a legendary assault rifle with a god-tier roll that my build specifically relies on. My buddy was already playing an elemental shotgun build that literally cannot use the rifle’s perks. He hit the interaction button first because he was standing six inches closer, scooped the rifle, and immediately vaulted it. When I asked him to drop it across our trade window, he told me he was holding onto it for a potential alternate character he might build three months from now. I told him that was garbage etiquette, logged off Discord without saying goodbye, and skipped our weekly post-game recap call. If you don't even run the class, you don't hoard the best drop of the night from the guy who carried your armor score through the boss phase.

What people are saying
@codylol — Why haven't you two just agreed on need-before-greed rules after five years of playing together?
@ivyish — Next run you let the boss stomp him into the dirt and pick up whatever drops while he watches the respawn timer.
@quinnyk — Hoarding digital gear for an imaginary character is textbook scarcity mindset and you shouldn't enable it.
@umakindof — bruh💀
@noahhmm — they says solid five-year friendship like catching an attitude over imaginary numbers on a screen.
