This is so dumb I can't believe I'm typing it out. My best friend (28F) broke up with her bf (29M) like, six months ago. It was a pretty clean break, no major drama. But she never changed any of her passwords. Netflix, Hulu, Max, you name it, he's still logged in. Her reasoning is that it's 'not a big deal' and she doesn't want to be 'petty' or 'create drama' by kicking him off. Well, the drama is here. The drama is in the room with us now. Last night, four of us were at her apartment to watch the big World Cup game. We get all settled, snacks deployed, hype is at maximum. We fire up the TV and... 'This account is being used on too many devices.' I immediately knew what it was. I made her check her account settings and sure enough, there's a new device logged in from a part of town none of us ever go to. After some light interrogation, she admits that he told her his TV broke and he was watching from his new girlfriend's place. HIS NEW GIRLFRIEND'S APARTMENT. I told her this has reached a level of absurdity that cannot be tolerated. This isn't just about him mooching, he is actively preventing US from using the service SHE pays for. The rest of our friends are split. Two of them think it's her account, her choice, and I should stay out of it. My other friend is on my side, saying the ex is taking advantage of her and she's being a doormat. It turned into this whole thing where I was the bad guy for calling her ex a freeloader. She’s now mad at me for 'making a scene.' All I wanted was to watch soccer without subsidizing her ex-boyfriend's new love life.
