Looting your friend's body in a video game is not a big deal.

My boyfriend and I were playing a survival game with a group of friends, and he got killed. I was the closest one to his body, so I grabbed all his stuff before he could get back to it. Now he's acting like I committed a federal crime.

We play this online survival game pretty regularly. The whole point is to gather resources, build a base, and not die. My boyfriend and our friends take it super seriously, but I'm more casual. So last night, we were all exploring a dangerous area and my boyfriend got taken out by a monster. He was carrying a ton of rare gear and materials. I was right there, and instead of letting his stuff just sit there for anyone to grab, I looted his entire inventory. My reasoning was that I could keep it safe for the group and prevent a rival team from getting it. When he finally respawned and ran back, he saw his body was empty and absolutely lost it. they said it was a betrayal and that 'everyone knows' you guard your friend's body, you don't loot it. I was like, it's a game, the items are better on me than disappearing or in enemy hands. He's been salty ever since and our friends are split. I think he's being a baby; it's just pixels.
