I was watching my nephew play on his console and it just autosaves constantly. We used to have to find a save point and pray the memory card wasn't full or corrupted.

It was a real source of anxiety! You'd be hours into a game like Final Fantasy or Resident Evil, deep in a dungeon, and you'd be running on fumes just trying to reach the next save point. Then you'd get the 'Memory Card is full' message and have to decide which old game save to sacrifice. It felt like Sophie's Choice every time. My nephew looked at me like I was describing the stone age when I told him about it. They have it too easy with the cloud and autosaves.
