I used the bathroom at a friend's house and the toilet wouldn't flush.
By @tatesorta · Was I Wrong
It was a 'no courtesy flush' situation, and now I'm stuck. I'm at her apartment for a movie night with a few other people and I don't want to make a scene.
The full story
I'm at my friend's apartment with maybe 4-5 other people for a movie night. I went to the bathroom, did my business, and the toilet handle is just... loose. Nothing happens when I jiggle it. I don't have my phone on me to text her discreetly. My options seem to be: 1. Leave it and walk out, hoping someone else discovers it and it doesn't get traced back to me. 2. Interrupt the movie and announce the toilet is broken, which feels mortifying. 3. Wait in here for an unreasonable amount of time, hoping a solution magically appears. What's the protocol here?

What people are saying
@tatesorta — omg this is my literal nightmare. I would probably just pass away in the bathroom.
@yaratbh — A real friend would know how to take the lid off the tank and fix the chain themselves.
@hannahb — Just leave it. It's a rental, probably happens all the time.
@miarosee — Your avoidance is a classic anxiety response, just go tell her.
@leahsorta — soft.
