My girlfriend's favorite song is this super slow, kinda sad indie track. I thought I'd do a funny, romantic thing and use an AI tool to remake it into an upbeat 90s rock anthem to surprise her.
The full story
The surprise did not go well. I found this tool online, uploaded her song, and a minute later it spat out a version that sounded like Blink-182 covering a funeral march. I queued it up, hit play, and did this whole presenter flourish. She listened to the whole thing with a completely blank face. Then she just said 'why would you do that?' and put on the original. I think she's genuinely offended and now I'm just sitting here in silence while she plays the original on repeat.
