I think I accidentally got my dorm-mates blacklisted from an entire online community.

I play a farming sim game and joined a Discord server for trading rare items. I didn't read the 20 pages of rules carefully enough, and now my entire dorm's IP address is banned because they think we're a single 'criminal enterprise'.

this is so unbelievably niche but i'm spiraling. i'm super into this cozy farming game and a huge part of it is collecting rare furniture sets. there are these super intense trading servers on discord to get them. i finally got an invite to 'The Acorn Exchange' which is like the holy grail of servers. the rules document is literally a google doc that's like 20 pages long. i skimmed it, whatever. my mistake. i was trying to be nice and give a newer player a 'glowing mushroom lamp'. i had two of them. to me it was just a nice gesture. apparently, i had accidentally picked up a 'duped' lamp (a duplicated item made from a glitch) a few weeks ago in a random trade, and one of the server mods saw me 'distributing contraband'. they didn't just ban me. they banned my IP address. the problem is, i live in a college dorm. the entire building shares the same block of IP addresses. so when i got banned, so did my two roommates and like three other people on our floor who are also in the server. my one roommate had been on the server for two years and was a respected trader. now he's getting angry DMs from people accusing him of being part of my 'item duplicating ring'. my other roommate is just pissed she can't get the new sanrio items anymore. i've tried to appeal to the mods, sending screenshots of my dorm ID and explaining i'm a college student, but they have a zero-tolerance policy and said the ban is permanent. i feel so unbelievably stupid and i think i ruined my roommates' entire hobby.
