I'm convinced the snacks I had in the 90s were scientifically better than anything my kids eat today.
By @umay · Nostalgia
I was at the grocery store trying to get snacks for my son's summer camp, and the options are just depressing. He wants some organic puffed quinoa thing and I just want to find him a real, authentic Squeezit.
The full story
It sent me down a whole memory lane in the middle of the cereal aisle. Remember 3D Doritos? Or when Trix cereal was actually shaped like fruit? My kids will never understand the sheer joy of peeling the weird film off a Handi-Snack cheese and trying to spread it on a cracker without it breaking. I try to explain these things and they just look at me like I'm describing ancient history. The other day I even bought the 'new' Dunkaroos to show them what they were missing, and it was such a disappointment. The frosting is wrong, the cookies are too crunchy... it's a shadow of its former self. Don't even get me started on the loss of Ecto Cooler. Everything now is either hyper-healthy and tastes like cardboard, or it's the same old boring stuff. There's no novelty, no fun collectible toys in the box (that your mom would immediately throw away), no commercials that were basically mini cartoons. My kids have their own things I guess, but I just wish they could experience the pure, unadulterated sugar rush of a 90s-era lunchbox for one day.

What people are saying
@danasorta — You're romanticizing the past because it's tied to good memories, not because the food was better.
@kiramaybe — keep the squeezit for yourself let him have the quinoa puffs
@wesyk — Truly a tragedy for this generation.
@vincekindof — Kids these days just have different taste buds because everything is so bland now.
@milo — My brother and I still talk about the Sprite Remix and how nothing has ever come close to it.
