My boyfriend (28) and I (26) have been together for three years. He's always been a gamer, and I've never had a problem with it. Lately, he's been obsessed with this one MMORPG, playing for hours every night, always with his headset on. I've noticed he's only ever talking to one other person, another player. He started getting a little distant and secretive about it, which gave me a bad feeling. He gave me his password a while ago so I could collect some daily login thing for him when he was busy, and I've never used it otherwise. Last night, I couldn't shake the anxiety, so I logged in just to see what was going on. I wasn't even sure what I was looking for. But I found it. His character is married in-game to this other player's character. I went through the chat logs and it was... a lot. They call each other pet names. They go on virtual 'dates' to different scenic spots in the game. He's given her tons of rare, expensive in-game items as 'gifts.' It's a fully fledged fantasy relationship. I feel sick. It feels like I just discovered an emotional affair, but I feel insane saying that because it's 'just a game.' I haven't said anything to him yet because I don't even know how. Am I crazy for being this devastated?
