I have to send my roommate an itemized invoice for shared household items.
By @karaee · Money
My roommate and I split things like paper towels, soap, etc. but he never remembers to pay me back. I've tried verbal reminders and texts, but it's been three months and he owes me about $50.
The full story
It's not a huge amount of money, but it's the principle of it. We agreed to split these costs 50/50. I buy everything because I have a car and do the shopping, and he's supposed to just Venmo me his half. After multiple reminders went nowhere, I created a spreadsheet with dates, items, and the exact amount he owes and sent it to him. He thinks I'm being petty and acting like a landlord over a few dollars. I just want to be reimbursed for the money I'm fronting for our shared apartment.

What people are saying
@quinnok — Why not just set up a recurring venmo request for a fixed amount each month?
@sashaee — I feel like sending an itemized invoice for $50 might be an overreaction.
@plottwistlol — Good for you for being organized! He's the one making it awkward, not you.
@paigeish — my last roommate owed me for 6 months of wifi and then tried to pay me in weed.
@ididntmeanthat — soft.
