okay so i feel like im going crazy. i have a roommate who is usually pretty chill but we got into the weirdest fight last night. i was up until like 3am studying for a midterm and hadn't eaten since lunch, i was literally seeing spots lol. i went to the kitchen and saw a takeout container from our favorite thai place. it was half-eaten pad thai. i know i probably should have asked but it was 3am, she was asleep, and i figured it's just leftovers, nbd. so i ate it. i woke up this morning to a bunch of passive aggressive texts from her saying 'thanks for eating my lunch'. i was like oh my god im so sorry, ill totally venmo you for it. i asked how much the pad thai was and she said the whole order was $25 with delivery and tip, so i owe her $25. i was confused and said i only ate half of it, so i can send her like $10 to cover the food and a little extra for the trouble. she got super mad and said that's not the point. the point is that she was planning on eating that for lunch today and now she has to buy something else, so i should pay for the original meal that i 'stole' from her. i think that's insane? like, am i supposed to pay for the original cost of a half-eaten meal? i get she's annoyed, but making me pay for the delivery fee and tip from a meal she already ate half of feels like a shakedown. she's not speaking to me now and keeps sending me a $25 venmo request. i feel like im being reasonable but she's acting like i committed a federal crime.
