I accidentally convinced my entire office that I'm a gourmet chef.

I brought in some slightly fancy-looking leftovers my sister (who is a professional chef) made. Now my manager is strongly suggesting I handle the catering for our next big client meeting.

The full story

I am not a good cook. I can make pasta and toast. That's about it. My sister is a literal professional chef and she sometimes drops off her kitchen experiments for me to eat, which is awesome. Last week she gave me this really elaborate chicken dish with some kind of fancy sauce. I brought the leftovers for lunch, and a few coworkers saw it and were asking what it was. I guess I got a little carried away and joked, 'Oh, just something I whipped up.' I thought it was obvious I was kidding. It was not. The story has now spread that I'm some kind of secret culinary genius. It was kind of funny for a day, but now it's a real problem. My manager pulled me aside and said he was so impressed with my 'hidden talent' that he'd love for me to cater the upcoming quarterly client pitch. they said it would add a 'personal touch' and they'd give me a budget. I tried to backpedal and say I'm really just an amateur, but he's not listening. He just said 'don't be so modest!' Now I'm stuck between confessing to this incredibly stupid lie or somehow forcing my sister to cook for 20 people.
