Can we all just admit that 2000s butterfly clips were a mistake?

My group chat is in a heated debate over Y2K fashion, and the nostalgia is getting out of control. Everyone is pretending they were runway models when we all know the reality.

The full story

I swear, people have romanticized these things into some kind of high-fashion accessory. We all had them. They were cheap plastic, the 'spring' would break after three uses, and they would get tangled in your hair if you so much as thought about moving your head too fast. My one friend is posting links to 'vintage' ones for like $20 a pair. Vintage what? You could get a 50-pack at Claire's for $4.99. Sorry, but these belong in the same category as inflatable furniture and hair mascara: things that seemed cool for five minutes but were actually terrible.
