A harmless office joke might have just cost me my promotion.

My team has a running gag where we roast each other. I made a joke about my manager's slide deck during a casual team meeting, and now he's giving me the cold shoulder right before promotion decisions are made.

We have a pretty casual team culture, and giving each other a hard time is normal. During our last weekly sync, my manager was presenting his new project idea. He had a typo on a slide, and I quipped, "Guess we know who *didn't* use spell-check." The whole team laughed, including him at the time. But since then, he's been really formal with me, canceling our 1:1s, and reassigning a project he just gave me. Promotion announcements are next week, and I have a sinking feeling my little joke just derailed my entire career path. Did I go too far?
