Paying for appetizers is a complete scam.
By @oscaragain · Hot Takes
Think about it. You're about to pay for a full meal, but first you're going to pay a premium to ruin your own appetite with an overpriced, undersized plate of fried whatever. It's the biggest hustle in the restaurant industry.
The full story
The entire concept of a 'starter' is a trap. The portions are always comically small and priced at like 70% of an actual main course. You get four sad little mozzarella sticks for $15 and by the time your real food arrives, you're not even that hungry anymore. It's a psychological trick to pad the bill and make you feel like you're having a 'full experience'. I'm not falling for it. I'm here for one meal, not two. Just bring me the burger.
