My friend group is in a civil war over whether a hot dog is a sandwich.
By @karaliterally · Hot Takes
I said it's obviously not, and now I'm being treated like a war criminal. We've been arguing in the group chat for two days straight and someone just sent a 10-slide PowerPoint presentation to prove me wrong.
The full story
It all started so innocently. We were planning a 4th of July cookout and someone's grocery list said "sandwich stuff & hot dogs." I replied "lol so sandwich stuff and... other stuff." Apparently that was the wrong thing to say. Immediately, my one friend goes "A hot dog IS a sandwich." I said no, it's a hot dog. It's a distinct category of food. they told me I was being a purist. Then another friend chimed in that if a sub is a sandwich, a hot dog has to be one. From there, it just completely devolved. We're now on day three of this. There are polls. There are 'sources' being cited from questionable websites. My best friend, during his actual workday, created and sent a 10-slide PowerPoint titled "The Sandwich Delusion: An Unhinged Manifesto." The slides are mostly memes and diagrams of bread. He's calling me a "structural traditionalist." At this point I'm not even sure what I believe anymore, I've been buried in so much propaganda. But I can't back down now. A hot dog is a hot dog. It is not a sandwich! Leaving it up to the internet to settle this before our friendship implodes.

@heyokay — Don't fold.
@sagewelp — Something tells me 'lol so sandwich stuff and... other stuff' might've been delivered with a little more inflammatory tone than you're letting on.
@lanelol — Oh my goodness, a whole PowerPoint! I really hope you all can laugh about this afterwards. Your friendship is the most important thing!
@owenyk — This is a fantastic use of everyone's time.
@ugfine — the powerpoint is unhinged and correct you have to disagree on principle now
