My boss keeps using the skull emoji in our work chat and I don't think he knows what it means.

He uses it for everything—good news, bad news, actual emergencies. It's wildly unprofessional and I'm getting second-hand embarrassment every time he does it.

The full story

i'm convinced my boss (probably in his late 50s) just searched "cool emoji for young people" and landed on the skull 💀. the first time he used it was when someone said they finished a report. ok, weird but whatever. but now it's out of control. last week, a huge server crashed and our entire site went down. he just dropped a single "💀" in the main work chat. no other context. just the skull. another time, someone announced they were leaving the company and he replied to their nice message with it. it's like he thinks it means "wow" or "crazy" in a neutral way, not "i'm dead" from cringe or laughter. i tried to model the correct behavior by using it on a funny meme someone posted. he did not pick up the hint. now it's gotten to a point where my coworkers are DMing me telling me i, as the youngest person on the team, have to be the one to tell him to stop. they think it's my generational duty or something. but how do you even begin that conversation? "hey boss, love the enthusiasm, but your emoji use is making our serious business problems feel like a twitch chat." i feel like it's an HR meeting waiting to happen.
