My boss bought us all lunch but I had to pay for it.
By @pialol · Work
My boss made a big show of treating the crew to lunch. He sent me to go pick it up, said he'd pay me back, and now he's pretending he forgot.
The full story
I work on a small crew, just a few of us. The boss is always trying to be one of the guys. Yesterday he says 'lunch is on me' and tells me to go get sandwiches for everyone from the good deli. It was like 90 bucks. they told me to just pay for it and he'd get me back right after lunch. I did it. The whole time we're eating, he's making a big deal about how he takes care of us. It's been a full day since and not a word. He's avoiding me. It's not about the money, it's the principle. He gets to look like the generous boss on my dime.
