It seems like every time I buy something now, a tablet gets flipped around asking for a 25% tip for 'service'. I'm happy to tip, always have been, but it used to be a clear exchange. The waiter brings your food and keeps your glass full, you give them a little extra. Simple. Nowadays, I'm buying a pre-made sandwich, grabbing it from a shelf myself, and then I'm faced with a screen asking for a tip while the person behind the counter watches. It just feels like a bit much, doesn't it? It gets awkward having to punch 'No Tip' for something that wasn't a service to begin with.
