It’s time we admit being a ‘Disney adult’ is a walking red flag.
By @violetish · Hot Takes
I'm not talking about casually enjoying the movies. I mean grown adults who center their entire personality, home decor, and life goals around a media company for children.
The full story
I just have to say it. Being an adult whose personality revolves around Disney isn't cute, it's just bizarre. I have a friend who is planning a Disney-themed wedding, and not just a subtle nod. She's talking a full-on Cinderella dress and glass slippers. Her future husband is on board because their entire apartment already looks like a Disney store threw up in it. They call going to Disney World 'going home.' I just don't get it. There's something genuinely off-putting about people in their 30s who cry when they meet someone in a Goofy costume or spend thousands of dollars every single year on park tickets and plastic souvenirs. It feels like a fundamental refusal to grow up and develop a real personality. Enjoying the movies you watched as a kid is normal. Making it your entire identity as a grown adult just tells me you don't have anything else going on.
